Kerala logs 17,481 new COVID cases, 105 deaths, TPR at 11.97 pc
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 17,481 new Covid cases on Wednesday, informed health department in a press release. With 105 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 15,617. Test positivity rate was recorded at 11.97 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Malappuram-2318, Ernakulam-2270, Kozhikode-2151, Thrissur-1983, Palakkad-1394, Kollam-1175, Thiruvananthapuram-1166, Kottayam-996, Alappuzha-969, Kannur-777, Kasaragod-776, Pathanamthitta-584, Wayanad-475 and Idukki-447.
A total of 1,45,993 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 2,57,18,672 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
86 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 16,600 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 698 patients remains unidentified.

97 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 21 were from Kannur, 13 from Palakkad, 12 from Thrissur, 9 from Kasaragod, 8 from Kollam, 7 from Pathanamthitta, 6 each from Ernakulam and Wayanad, 5 from Kottayam, 3 each from Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha, 2 from Kozhikode and 1 each from Idukki and Malappuram.
Meanwhile, 14,131 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 747, Kollam-2017, Pathanamthitta-306, Alappuzha-535, Kottayam-664, Idukki-262, Ernakulam-1600, Thrissur-1583, Palakkad-1040, Malappuram-2221, Kozhikode-1531, Wayanad-335, Kannur-728 and Kasaragod-562.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,29,640 in the state. 30,59,441 people recovered from the disease so far.
4,06,370 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,81,316 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 25,054 people are in hospitals. 2,401 people were taken to hospitals on Wednesday.
