Kerala logs 15,951 new COVID cases, 165 fatalities, 17,658 recoveries
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 15, 951 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed health department in a press release. With 165 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 24,603.
A total of 1,03,484 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-2572, Thiruvananthapuram-1861, Thrissur-1855, Kottayam-1486, Kozhikode-1379, Malappuram-1211, Palakkad-1008, Alappuzha- 985, Kollam-954, Idukki-669, Kannur-646, Pathanamthitta-623, Wayanad-502 and Kasaragod-200.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 841 wards of 422 local self-governments. Strict restrictions will continue in these places.
4,74,901 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,53,119 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 21,782 people are in hospitals. 1312 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 1,63,280 active Covid cases reported, only 12.1 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.
70 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 15,191 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 617 patients remains unidentified. 73 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 17,658 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 2096, Kollam-117, Pathanamthitta-734, Alappuzha-1360, Kottayam- 1407, Idukki-956, Ernakulam-635, Thrissur-4764, Palakkad-734, Malappuram-1328, Kozhikode- 1661, Wayanad-968, Kannur-600 and Kasaragod-298.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,63,280 in the state. 44,41,430 were recovered from the disease so far.
