Kerala logs 15,876 new Covid cases on Tuesday; 129 fatalities, TPR at 15.12
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 15,876 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, the health department informed in a press release. With 129 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 22,779. Test positivity rate was recorded at 15.12 percent.
The district - wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur - 1936, Ernakulam - 1893, Thiruvananthapuram - 1627, Palakkad - 1591, Malappuram - 1523, Kollam - 1373, Alappuzha - 1118, Kozhikode - 1117, Kannur - 1099, Kottayam - 1043, Pathanamthitta - 632, Idukki - 367, Wayanad – 296, and Kasaragod - 261.
A total of 1,05,005 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 7 in the wards of 794 local bodies. Among them, 692 wards are in urban areas and 3416 are in rural areas.
5,75,668 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 5,46,791 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 28,877 people are in hospitals. 1823 people were taken to hospitals on Tuesday.
Among the 1,98,865 Covid cases reported currently, only 13.7 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.
44 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 14,959 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 778 patients remains unidentified. 95 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 25,654 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district - wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram - 1421, Kollam - 2098, Pathanamthitta - 1304, Alappuzha - 1998, Kottayam - 1558, Idukki - 953, Ernakulam - 3401, Thrissur - 2843, Palakkad - 1768, Malappuram - 2713, Kozhikode - 3342, Wayanad - 960, Kannur - 864 and Kasaragod - 431.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,98,865 in the state. 41,84,158 were recovered from the disease so far.
