Kerala logs 15,768 new COVID cases, TPR at 14.94%, 214 deaths
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 15,768 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, informed health department in a press release. With 214 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 23,897. The test positivity rate was recorded at 14.94 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur-1843, Ernakulam-1545, Thiruvananthapuram-1591, Kozhikode-1428, Kottayam-1632, Kollam-1407, Malappuram- 1377, Palakkad-1419, Alappuzha-1250, Kannur-993, Pathanamthitta-715, Idukki-373, Wayanad-237 and Kasaragod-186.
A total of 1,05,513 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 8 in 2507 wards in 678 local self-governments.
4,86,600 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,62,691 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 23,909 people are in hospitals. 1676 people were taken to hospitals on Monday.
Among the 1,61,195 active Covid cases reported, only 13.7 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.
124 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 14,746 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 798 patients remains unidentified. 100 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 21,367 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram – 1657, Kollam-1431, Pathanamthitta-1206, Alappuzha-1104, Kottayam-1431, Idukki-803, Ernakulam-2712, Thrissur-2448, Palakkad-1429, Malappuram- 2591, Kozhikode-2508, Wayanad-801, Kannur- 752 and Kasaragod-465.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,61,195 in the state. 43,54,264 were recovered from the disease so far.
