Kerala logs 15,058 new Covid cases on Monday; 99 fatalities, TPR at 16.39
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 15,058 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, the health department informed in a press release. With 99 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 22,650. Test positivity rate was recorded at 16.39 percent.
The district - wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur - 2158, Kozhikode - 1800, Ernakulam - 1694, Thiruvananthapuram - 1387, Kollam - 1216, Malappuram - 1199, Palakkad - 1124, Alappuzha - 1118, Kottayam - 1027, Kannur - 814, Idukki - 501, Wayanad – 445, Pathanamthitta - 381, and Kasaragod - 194.
A total of 91,885 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 7 in the wards of 794 local bodies. Among them, 692 wards are in urban areas and 3416 are in rural areas.
5,90,219 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 5,60,694 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 29,525 people are in hospitals. 1853 people were taken to hospitals on Monday.
Among the 2,08,773 Covid cases reported currently, only 13.5 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.
49 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 14,336 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 612 patients remains unidentified. 61 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 28,439 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district - wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram - 1993, Kollam - 2243, Pathanamthitta - 1111, Alappuzha - 1747, Kottayam - 2234, Idukki - 1157, Ernakulam - 3699, Thrissur - 2790, Palakkad - 2218, Malappuram - 2701, Kozhikode - 3520, Wayanad - 996, Kannur - 1608 and Kasaragod - 452.
With this, the number of active cases touched 2,08,773 in the state. 41,58,504 were recovered from the disease so far.
