Kerala logs 14,233 fresh COVID cases, 173 deaths
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 14,233 new Covid cases on Friday, informed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during a press meet here. With 173 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 10,804.
Test positivity rate was declined to 13.29 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram - 2060, Ernakulam-1629, Kollam – 1552, Malappuram – 1413, Palakkad-1355, Thrissur -1291, Kozhikode - 1006, Alappuzha - 845, Kannur - 667, Kottayam-662, Idukki- 584,Kasaragod – 499, Pathanamthitta - 479 and Wayanad - 191.
A total of 1,07,096 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 2,10,17,514 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
108 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 13,433 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 626 patients remains unidentified.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Thiruvananthapuram - 1966, Ernakulam-1592, Kollam – 1546, Malappuram-1375, Palakkad-919, Thrissur - 1275, Kozhikode - 1000, Alappuzha - 842, Kannur - 613, Kottayam-635, Idukki-559, Kasaragod-481, Pathanamthitta - 466 and Wayanad -164.
66 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 13 were from Palakkad, 11 from Thiruvananthapuram, 8 from Kannur, 7 from Kasaragod, 6 from Kollam, 5 each from Pathanamthitta and Kottayam, 4 from Wayanad, 3 from Ernakulam and 2 each from Idukki and Thrissur.
Meanwhile, 15,355 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-1821, Kollam - 1393, Pathanamthitta - 315, Alappuzha -1448, Kottayam -644, Idukki - 682, Ernakulam - 1907, Thrissur - 1222, Palakkad - 1487, Malappuram - 2306, Kozhikode -849, Wayanad -152, Kannur - 592 and Kasaragod - 537.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,34,001 in the state. 25,57,597 people recovered from the disease so far.
5,62,253 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 5,30,743 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 31,510 people are in hospitals. 2675 people were taken to hospitals on Friday.
Five new places were added to the list of hotspots on Friday and 20 places were removed from the list. Currently, there are 880 hotspots in the state.
