Kerala logs 12,818 fresh COVID cases, 122 deaths, TPR climbs to 12.38 pc
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 12,818 new Covid cases on Thursday, informed health department in a press release. With 122 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 15,739. Triggering panic, the test positivity rate climbed to 12.38 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur-1605, Kozhikode-1586, Ernakulam-1554, Malappuram-1249, Palakkad-1095, Thiruvananthapuram-987, Kollam-970, Kottayam-763, Alappuzha-718, Kasaragod-706, Kannur-552, Pathanamthitta-433, Idukki-318 and Wayanad-282.
A total of 1,03,543 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 2,58,22,215 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
76 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 12,034 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 623 patients remains unidentified.

85 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 22 were from Kannur, 11 from Kasaragod, 9 from Thrissur, 8 from Palakkad, 7 each from Ernakulam and Wayanad, 6 from Thiruvananthapuram, 3 each from Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam,2 from Kozhikode and one from Idukki.
Meanwhile, 13,454 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-704, Kollam-847, Pathanamthitta-329, Alappuzha-1287, Kottayam-937, Idukki-228, Ernakulam-1052, Thrissur-1888, Palakkad-1013, Malappuram-1860, Kozhikode-1427, Wayanad-416, Kannur-785 and Kasaragod-681.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,28,881 in the state. 30,72,895 people recovered from the disease so far.
4,09,323 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,83,826 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 25,497 people are in hospitals. 2,537 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
There are 73 local bodies with TPR below 5 percent; 335 local bodies with TPR between 5-10 percent, 355 local bodies with TPR between 10-15 percent and 271 local bodies with TPR above 15 percent.
