Kerala logs 11,699 new COVID cases, 58 fatalities, 17,763 recoveries
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 11,699 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, informed health department in a press release. With 58 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 24,661. Meanwhile, 17,763 recoveries were also reported in the state.
A total of 80,372 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-1529, Thiruvananthapuram-1133, Thrissur-1667, Kottayam-870, Kozhikode-997, Malappuram-942, Palakkad-792, Alappuzha- 766, Kollam-891, Idukki-439, Kannur-755, Pathanamthitta-488, Wayanad-286 and Kasaragod-144.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 841 wards of 422 local self-governments. Strict restrictions will continue in these places.
4,78,087 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,56,821 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 21,266 people are in hospitals. 1318 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 1,57,158 active Covid cases reported, only 12.3 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.
32 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 11,134 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 492 patients remains unidentified. 41 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 2096, Kollam-126, Pathanamthitta-426, Alappuzha-1285, Kottayam- 1646, Idukki-681, Ernakulam-606, Thrissur-4496, Palakkad-941, Malappuram-1947, Kozhikode- 1790, Wayanad-801, Kannur-628 and Kasaragod-294.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,57,158 in the state. 44,59,193 were recovered from the disease so far.
