Kerala logs 11,196 new COVID cases, 149 fatalities, 18,849 recoveries
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 11,196 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, informed health department in a press release. With 149 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 24,810. Meanwhile, 18,849 recoveries were also reported in the state.
A total of 96,436 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram-1339, Kollam-1273, Thrissur-1271, Ernakulam- 1132, Malappuram- 1061, Kozhikode-908, Alappuzha- 847, Kottayam-768, Palakkad-749, Kannur- 643, Pathanamthitta-540, Idukki-287, Wayanad- 230, and Kasaragod-148.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 745 wards of 368 local self-governments. Strict restrictions will continue in these places.
\4,70,518 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,49,480 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 21,038 people are in hospitals. 1387 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
74 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 10,506 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 540 patients remains unidentified. 76 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 1124, Kollam-163, Pathanamthitta-1156, Alappuzha-1031, Kottayam- 1234, Idukki-470, Ernakulam-3090, Thrissur-3706, Palakkad-1052, Malappuram-1820, Kozhikode- 2097, Wayanad-615, Kannur-754 and Kasaragod-267.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,49,356 in the state. 44,78,042 were recovered from the disease so far.
92 percent (2,45,92,694) of the population, who are above the age of 18, have been vaccinated with first dose and 40 percent (1,07,31,080) received both the doses.
