Kerala logs 11,079 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, 123 fatalities, 9,972 recoveries
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 11,079 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, informed the health department in a press release. With 123 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 26,571. The test positivity rate was recorded at 12.31 percent. As many as 9,972 persons were also recovered.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur-1111, Ernakulam-1794, Thiruvananthapuram-1125, Kozhikode- 1155, Kottayam-925, Kannur-554, Palakkad-530, Kollam-767, Alappuzha-506, Pathanamthitta-547, Malappuram-699, Idukki-729, Wayanad-387 and Kasaragod-250.
A total of 89,995 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 211 wards of 158 local self-government bodies.
3,39,688 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,28,426 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 11,262 people are in hospitals. 690 people were taken to hospitals on Wednesday.
Among the 97,630 active Covid cases reported, only 10.4 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
53 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 10,608 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 360 patients remains unidentified. 58 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 9972 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries:

46,95,904 people were recovered from the disease so far.
