Kerala logs 10,691 new COVID cases, 85 fatalities, 12,655 recoveries
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 10,691 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed health department in a press release. With 85 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 26,258. The test positivity rate was recorded at 13.05 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-1639, Thrissur-1378, Thiruvananthapuram-1197, Kozhikode- 976, Kottayam-872, Kollam-739, Malappuram-687, Kannur-602, Pathanamthitta-584, Palakkad-575, Idukki- 558, Alappuzha-466, Wayanad-263 and Kasaragod-155.
A total of 81,914 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 332 wards of 227 local self-government bodies.
3,61,495 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,48,743 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 12,752 people are in hospitals. 799 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 1,11,083 active Covid cases reported, only 10.1 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
50 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 10,196 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 393 patients remains unidentified. 52 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 12,655 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries:
