Thiruvananthapuram: The state will observe complete lockdown on Saturday and Sunday. Only shops selling necessities and other basic services are allowed to open. Kerala Books and Publication Society has been given special consideration as the printing of textbooks is underway.

The restrictions and relaxations that were devised based on the test positivity rate will be followed from Monday. The COVID review meeting presided over by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan decided that the areas with high number of COVID patients should be divided into special clusters and stringent measures adopted to maintain control in these areas.

Instructions given to study about relaxations

Thiruvananthapuram: The chief minister is dissatisfied that even after imposing strict restrictions, the test positivity rate hasn’t come under control. The CM has given strict instructions to an expert committee to study the relaxation measures. He has informed the chief secretary and the expert committee to submit instructions regarding this before Wednesday. He also said that the conditions leading to the spread of the disease during the time of Onam must be avoided.

There were questions whether the relaxations given based on test positivity rate are necessary and if they should be continued. But it was decided last week that the restrictions will follow as per the TPR.
