Kottayam: LDF on Friday moved a non-trust motion against the UDF-led Kottayam municipal council. Both fronts have 22 seats each in the municipality.
According to reports, CPM hopes to cash in on the infighting between municipal chairperson and vice chairman.
UDF independent Bincy Sebastian is the muncipality chairperson.
BJP with 8 seats is expected to support the move.
At least 27 votes is required to pass the motion in the 52-member council.
Opposition leader V D Satheesan accused that LDF has no political decency and they are ready to align with anyone to destroy UDF.
The debate on the motion is ongoing in the municipality.
Newly appointed DCC president Nattakom Suresh, Congress MLA Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan are attempting to solve the issues within the party.
