Kozhikode: Eminent writer C Radhakrishnan will be presented this year's Mathrubhumi Literary Award at a function to be held at K P Kesava Menon Hall here at 5 pm on Saturday.
The award will be presented by renowned writer M T Vasudevan Nair. Malayalam University Vice Chancellor K Jayakumar, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Vice President Khadija Mumtaz, Mathrubhumi Managing Director M P Veerendra Kumar and Managing Editor P V Chandran will attend the award ceremony.
The award is in recognition of his rich contribution to the field of literature. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, a citation and a statuette designed by M V Devan.
Radhakrishnan was selected by a panel chaired by novelist M Mukundan. Sethu and Sarah Joseph were the other members of the jury.
Radhakrishnan has proved his mettle in various capacities as novelist, short story writer, cine director, teacher and media personnel. The relentless efforts on methods for parallel infusion of scientific exploration in fiction and essays simultaneously make his style a unique one, the panel had observed.

Radhakrishnan was born to Parappur Madathil Madhavan Nair and Chakkupurakkal Janaki Amma at Chamravattom in Ponnani taluk in February 15, 1939.
His works such as Theekkadal Kadanju Thirumadhuram, Ellam Maykunna Kadal, Pullippuliyum Vellinakshathrangalum, Spandhamapinikale nandi, Ivide Ellavarkkum Sukham Thane, Puzha Muthal Puzha Vare, Munpe Parakkunna Pakshikal, Karal Pilarum Kalam, Ini Oru Nirakanchiri and Ullil Ullathu, had garnered much attention at the publishing stage itself.
Radhakrishnan is a recipient of several coveted honors, including that of the National Literary Academy of India, Kerala Literary Academy as well as Vayalar Award, Mahakavi G. Award, Pandit Karuppan Award, Lalithambika Award and Padmaprabha Puraskaram.
