Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 45,136 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate also continued to rose and touched 44.8 per cent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-8,143, Thiruvananthapuram- 7,430, Thrissur-5,120, Kozhikode- 4,385, Kottayam-3,053, Kollam-2,882, Palakkad-2,607, Malappuram-2,431, Alappuzha-2,168 Pathanamthitta-2,012, Kannur- 1,673, Idukki-1,637, Wayanad- 972 and Kasaragod-623.
A total of 1,00,735 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
3,85,516 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,77,086 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 8,430 people are in hospitals. 1,124 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday.
Among the 2,47,227 active Covid cases reported, only 3 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
Along with 70 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 62 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 51,739 in the state.
128 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 42,340 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 2,225 patients remains unidentified. 443 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 21,324 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-4163, Kollam-3080, Pathanamthitta-709, Alappuzha-567, Kottayam-1021, Idukki-465, Ernakulam-3324, Thrissur-3041, Palakkad-687, Malappuram-720, Kozhikode-1567, Wayanad-824, Kannur-1003 and Kasaragod-153.
52,97,971 people were recovered from the disease so far.
