Kasaragod: Following the Kerala High Court’s invention, CPM concluded the Kasaragod district conference on Friday itself. The High Court has issued an interim order banning all conferences attended by more than 50 people in the district.

CPM district conferences have come under scanner over the violation of COVID protocol amid the surge in the cases. Amidst this, Kasaragod district collector Bhandari Swagat Ranveerchand IAS issued an order banning all public meetings on Thursday.

But within two hours, she withdrew the order. Following this, it was alleged that the collector withdrew the order due to the pressure from CPM as the district conference was scheduled to begin on Friday. But the collector explained that the order was withdrawn because of the government’s new guidelines based on the number of Covid patients.

As the order and its withdrawal triggered a controversy, the Kasaragod district collector has decided to go on leave. The collector’s office informed that she is on leave from January 21 to February 1 due to personal responsibilities. The ADM will be in charge of the district collector.
