Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 22,946 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, informed the health department in a press release. Triggering panic, the test positivity rate was jumped to 33.07 per cent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thiruvananthapuram- 5,863, Ernakulam-4,100, Kozhikode-2,043, Thrissur-1,861, Kottayam-1,476, Kollam-1,264, Palakkad-1,191, Kannur-1,100, Malappuram-935, Pathanamthitta-872, Alappuzha-835, Idukki-605, Kasaragod-574 and Wayanad-227.
A total of 69,373 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
2,41,087 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,36,030 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 5,057 people are in hospitals. 711 people were taken to hospitals on Monday.
Among the 1,21,458 active Covid cases reported, only 3.7 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
Along with 18 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 54 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 50,904 in the state.
181 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 22,179 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 442 patients remains unidentified. 144 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 5,280 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-579, Kollam-29, Pathanamthitta-487, Alappuzha-336, Kottayam-308, Idukki-227, Ernakulam-1607, Thrissur-402, Palakkad-215, Malappuram-133, Kozhikode-513, Wayanad-66, Kannur-280 and Kasaragod-98.
52,28,710 people were recovered from the disease so far.
