Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has listed few incidents which affected the reputation of CPM in the district. Addressing delegates meet during the CPM district committee conference here on Friday, the CM slammed the series of incidents including Anupama Chandran’s protest against illegal child adoption which landed the party in a tight spot.
He also pointed out that controversies over the involvement of SFI leaders in copying during the PSC exam and tax fraud in the corporation have become a disgrace to the party.
“We should examine whether the party took the right stance in the child adoption row,” said the CM.
“The working committee report mentioned that the party system has weakened as some leaders were eying Parliament seat,” noted the CM explaining the disciplinary action against VK Madhu.
In the Aruvikkara constituency, CPM district member VK Madhu had taken a stance which goes against the party principles during the assembly polls. Though the rift within the party was settled, the difference of opinion between leaders at some area committees has created a divide. The party conferences also reflected this rift. Such incidents would not be encouraged, the CM said.
