Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 2,514 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, informed the health department in a press release.
Along with 54 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 269 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. With this, the death toll climbed to 45,861 in the state.

Test positivity rate was recorded at 4.51 percent.
A total of 55,631 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised based on the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 6 wards of 5 local self-government bodies.
1,31,345 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,27,397 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 3,948 people are in hospitals. 178 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
Among the 26,605 active Covid cases reported, only 8.8 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
18 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 2,340 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 138 patients remains unidentified. 18 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 3,427 recoveries were also reported in the state.

51,55,142 people were recovered from the disease so far.
