Kozhikode: A massive fire broke out at the taluk office building in Vatakara here on Friday. A part of the roof which was engulfed in flames collapsed. Fire Force personnel are trying to douse the fire. More Fire Force units have rushed to the spot.
Vatakara sub-treasury and many other buildings are situated close to the taluk office which caught fire.
People noticed the fire on the building in the wee hours of Friday. As per the preliminary assumption, a short circuit caused the fire. The fire spread rapidly as the old building is in poor condition. Details regarding the documents gutted in fire will be confirmed later.
District rural police chief deployed a team of police to assist the fire force. The cause of the fire will be assessed after dousing the fire.
Earlier, two units of the fire force were deployed to the spot. As the fire was not brought under control, more units were deployed.
