Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has issued an official order fixing the basic salary and allowances of Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) officials (Junior Times Scale). As announced earlier, the basic salary is fixed at Rs 81,800.

The government issued the final order dismissing the protest of civil service officials.

Earlier, the government decided to give Grade Pay, HRA and DA along with the basic salary. But the final order was issued after excluding Grade Pay which stands at Rs 8,100. Instead of the Grade Pay, annual increment is added. KAS officials will be entitled to an annual increment of Rs 2000 after training.

The state cabinet last week decided to fix 81,800 as the basic salary of KAS officials. Irked with the decision, IAS Association expressed protest and questioned the government for fixing the remuneration higher than the civil service officials. Civil Service Officials also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister seeking discussion on the matter.
