Palakkad: Dr Prabhu Das, tribal nodal officer in Attappady, has raised fresh allegations against the state government. He alleged that people who demanded bribe accompanied the health minister during her visit to Attappady. He told media that hospital management committee members are corrupted.

“Most of the hospital management committee members have been demanding bribe for clearing the bills. I have received many complaints against the members. As I questioned the bribery, they dragged me into controversies. The same people who demanded bribe for a single sign have accompanied the health minister during her surprise visit to Attappady," alleged the official.

“I had written to the government multiple times seeking funds for establishing a mother and child ward in Kottathara tribal speciality hospital and construction of elevator. But the government ignored the letters. Members in the hospital management committee also tried to mislead the minister and other officials over the matter. The government didn’t seek the opinion of officials, including me. I’m ready to face any action over this,” said Prabhu Das.

He also complained of excluding him from accompanying the minister during her visit to Attappady.

I was summoned to Thiruvananthapuram in the name of a fake meeting hours before the minister’s visit. Some higher officials in the health department are behind this action, he added.

He also alleged that the health minister wanted to reach Attappady before opposition leader VD Satheesan’s visit to the tribal hamlets where infant deaths were reported.
