Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh here on Thursday. According to reports, she was summoned for interrogation as part of further investigation into the controversial gold smuggling case. While leaving ED office, Swapna refused to comment on the interrogation.
Addressing Mathrubhumi News, Swapna stated that she will give a detailed response later and that she doesn’t know whether she has to visit the ED office again.
Meanwhile, Swapna Suresh who was recently released from jail is restricted from moving to Thiruvananthapuram due to the bail condition. The court granted conditional bail to Swapna in the case registered by ED. As per the conditions, Swapna would not be able to leave from Kochi. Because of this, Swapna rushed to Kochi soon after walking out of a jail in Thiruvananthapuram.
Sixteen months after her arrest in the sensational gold smuggling case, Swapna Suresh, one of the prime accused in the racket, walked out of jail on Saturday after securing bail on November 2.
Swapna who completed the necessary bail procedure, left for her residence with her mother, days after the Kerala High Court granted bail to her and seven others in a UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) case lodged by the NIA in connection with the smuggling of gold through diplomatic channels. The court, while allowing her bail, had held that prima facie it did not find that the accused committed any terrorist act as alleged against them.
