Cinemas will reopen in Kerala on Monday; minister assures considering demands of film bodies


Thiruvananthapuram: The cinema theatres across the state will reopen on Monday after a long break. The decision was taken in the talks held between the representatives of film bodies and the Minister for Culture and Cinema, Saji Cherian, here on Friday. The film bodies have informed that the minister assured talking to the chief minister on their demands.

The association of theatre owners has demanded relaxation in entertainment tax, fixed power tariff and building tax.

The theatres are reopening in the state after a long gap of six months.

The government has granted permission to reopen theatres under strict conditions. The staff and visitors must be fully vaccinated. Entry is limited to only 50 percent of the seating capacity of the theatres
