Thiruvananthapuram: A group of lawyers attacked journalists at Vanchiyoor court here on Monday. Sivaji, photographer of Siraj daily was manhandled by the lawyers when he tried to capture the photo of Wafa Firoz, accused in journalist KM Basheer murder case.
Wafa appeared before the court on Monday as the court resumed proceedings into the case related to the death of KM Basheer. IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman who is named key accused in the case also appeared before the court along with Wafa.
The lawyers attacked the photographer when he tried to click the photo of the accused. When Sivaji clicked Wafa’s photo, the lawyers rushed towards him and snatched his camera and accreditation card.
Later, they forced him to delete her photo. Though they tried to snatch Sivaji’s phone, he managed to hand over it to some police officials who reached the spot.
KUWJ president Suresh Vellimangalam who intervened in the issue was also beaten up by the lawyers.
