Kozhikode: The political position of Samastha Kerala Jamiat-ul-Ulema remains intact, opined the central mushavara of the largest spiritual organisation of Muslims in Kerala. The statement comes in the backdrop of the growing dispute amongst the leaders of the IUML and Samastha.
There is no difference of opinion in Samsatha regarding its political position. The discussions on social media are against the culture of the organisation. Strong disciplinary action will be taken in future if the trend continues, the meet warned.
The dispute between Samastha and Muslim League started with the issue of recruitment to the Waqf Boards. While League called for a campaign in mosques, Samastha openly denied it. The latter also went ahead with discussions with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Meanwhile, League organised massive rallies in Kozhikode and Malappuram to show its strength. Samastha president Sayyid Muhammad Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal came out against an anti-communist resolution adopted by its Malappuram district faction. Besides, the SYS leader Abussamd Pookkottoor said that not all members of CPM are non-religious. All these were read as a 'change of mind' of Samastha, which is known for its long-standing affiliation with the IUML.
