Thrissur: The software relied on by police for crime tracking has been updated with a feature to get details about court trials. Notably, the crime tracking software, started by Thrissur city police, has already gained popularity for its accuracy in retrieving records. The new feature has been imbibed to exercise prudence during the trials of the cases.

Court trial monitoring system facilitates the police officials to cater for the needs of prosecution promptly. The software offers even the details on the upcoming sitting of the cases. It will help the police to track whether witnesses are properly summoned and ensure that required documents are delivered.

The software aids police in ascertaining crimes, comparing similar cases, issuing clearance certificates, finding missing persons and vehicles and identifying unrecognised dead bodies.

The crime tracking software was first launched in Thrissur in 2012, evoked by the difficulty in collating data on accident deaths in the district. To sort such data, each police station in the district had to be physically visited and the FIRs were to be examined. The software replaced all such cumbersome procedures. The initiative was later expanded to the entire state.
