Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government has announced a reward of Rs 2 cr and promotion in service for hockey goalkeeper P R Sreejesh who emerged as one of the stars of the Indian men's hockey team's historic bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Other Kerala athletes who participated in the Tokyo Olympics will be honoured with a reward of Rs 5 lakh, informed the government sources.
Along with the cash reward of Rs 2 cr, Sreejesh will be promoted to the post of Joint Director in the education department. He is currently serving as deputy director in the department.
The decision came amid criticism against state government over the delay in announcing the reward for Sreejesh.
