Thiruvananthapuram: The direct appointments to the vacancies of high school via Kerala Public Service Commission have been increased to 65 per cent. The remaining 10 per cent vacancies will be filled through intra-district transfers; 15 per cent by promotion of primary level teachers and 10 per cent via the change in post.
Currently, only 50 per cent of total vacancies are filled through direct recruitments. In primary and part-time junior language sections, the direct appointment through PSC was increased from 65 to 85 per cent. However, direct appointments in the junior language section will remain at 50 per cent.
Intra-district transfers in all sections were cut down from 25 per cent to 10 per cent. A notification in this regard was already released by the public education director in 2021-22.
Meanwhile, the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department already reduced the percentage share of intra-district transfer in government departments to 10 per cent. But the public education department is still allowing intra-district transfers at a high ratio and this prompted the candidates who were in the high school teachers’ rank list to approach the High Court. However, the decision to reduce the percentage of intra-district transfers was taken while the trial in the case is in progress.
