Kerala identifies 12 new hotspots, 511 in total
Thiruvananthapuram: The total number of hotspots in the state touched 511 after the state recorded the highest single-day spike of 1298 COVID cases on Thursday. 12 more areas were identified as hotspots in the state.
In Kannur, five regions - Mattool (containment zone ward 12), Cherukunnu (6,7), Eruvassery (9), Ullickal (1) and Naduvil (2) were identified as hotspots. In Ernakulam district, Edakkattuvayal (7), Keerambara (11) and Paingottoor (13) turned hotspots on Thursday.
Chakkupallam (11) in Idukki, Mulankunnathaukkavu (11) in Thrissur, Kalliyoor (13) in Thiruvananthapuram and Naduvannur (4,5) in Kozhikode were also declared as hotspots.
At the same time, 16 regions were removed from the list of hotspots.
In Thrissur district, Alagappa Nagar (Containment zone ward 13), Vellangallur (18,19), Kadavallur (12), Chazhoor (3) and Varantharappilly (4,13) were excluded from the list.
In Thiruvananthapuram district, Pangode (8), Vembayam (1,15,18) and Kallara (8,9,10,11,12) were also removed from the list. Kattappana municipality (15,16), and Vathikudi (2,3) in Idukki, Kavalangad (13), Pallippuram (5) in Ernakulam district and Pattanchery (15) and Marutharoad (10) in Palakkad district were also removed from the list.
Other areas excluded from hotspot list are all divisions in Mananthavady municipality in Wayanad and Kulakkada (9,18) in Kollam district.
