Alappuzha: Kerala Home Secretary V Venu, who had met with an accident here on Monday morning, is reportedly under stable condition.

According to doctors, Venu suffered injuries to his nose and stomach and also had internal bleeding, but presently his condition is stable, said an officer.

The Innova car, carrying Venu and his family, got hit by a truck around 1 am at the Kayamkulam-Kottukulangara National Highway in Alappuzha. The official and family were on their way to Thiruvananthapuram after attending the Biennale in Kochi.

The truck driver is presently in police custody.

Around seven people, including Venu’s family members, have sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The accident took place after a truck, en route from Tenkasi to Kochi, carrying loads of rice collided with the car.

As per reports, Venu’s wife Sarada Muraleedharan, who is the Additional Chief Secretary, their son Sabari, driver Abhilash and relatives Pranav and Sourav have been admitted to a private hospital in Thiruvalla.
