Alappuzha: An Innova car carrying Kerala Home Secretary Venu IAS and his family met with an accident here on Monday morning. The car was hit by a truck around 1 am on the Kayamkulam-Kottukulangara National Highway in Alappuzha.
Around seven people, including Venu and family members, sustained injuries in the accident. The official and family were on their way to Thiruvananthapuram after attending the Biennale in Kochi.
The accident took place after rice laden truck, en route from Tenkasi to Kochi, collided with the car.
According to reports, Venu’s wife Sharada, who is Additional Chief Secretary, son Sabari, driver Abhilash and relatives Pranav and Sourav have been admitted to a private hospital in Thiruvalla.
Former Higher Education Secretary Venu was appointed as the Home Secretary of the state in June 2022.
