Kerala HC sacks Marketfed MD over ‘lack of qualification’

SK Sanil

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday sacked the managing director of Kerala State Co-operative Marketing Federation (Marketfed) after finding that he was unqualified to hold the post.

The court asked the MD SK Sanil to vacate the office on Thursday itself and refrain from making any decision as its executive head.

The court warned the government and the Marketfed of repeating such appointments.

Marketfed is the apex federation of marketing societies in Kerala. It controls the market by providing marketing facilities, purchasing goods directly from farmers, establishing export markets and providing fertilisers and other items.

Sanil had earlier served as the MD of Consumerfed for two years till May 2022.

The HC order came following a plea filed by Wayanad native Krishnan.
