Kochi: The Kerala High Court resorted to an unusual action by recalling the orders granting anticipatory bail to the accused in a case where Adv Saiby Jose Kidangoor appeared for the defence. Justice Ziyad Rahman had recalled the order after finding that the anticipatory bail had been granted without hearing the side of the complainant.

The court had granted anticipatory bail to the accused on April 29, 2022 in connection with a case registered in Ranni under Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The court has decided to conduct a retrial after observing that the anticipatory bail was sanctioned without hearing the complainant in the case.

The court has ordered a retrial as the defence lawyer Adv Saiby Jose Kidangoor has come under the scanner for receiving bribes from clients in the guise of influencing the judges. The accused lawyer is also the president of the Kerala High Court Advocates Association. He had allegedly received Rs 72 lakh in the name of distributing money among three judges.
