Kochi: The Kerala High Court here on Friday issued an order directing to demolish the sheds erected by the Latin Archdiocese as part of the protest against the Vizhinjam port construction. The protest committee was directed to knock down the sheds. The court issued the order after considering a plea moved by the Adani Group against the protest.

In the plea, Adani Group complained that the sheds set by the protesters are obstructing entry to the construction site.

The High Court had earlier declared not to hinder the construction and entrusted police protection for the port. However, Adani Group approached the court again citing that the works are being obstructed by the temporary sheds established by the protesters.

Adani Group had moved a contempt petition alleging police inaction and reluctance to follow the directions of the court. Though the police denied such allegations in its report to the court, the report of the executive magistrate noted that the sheds set up by the protesters are continuing to remain as a barrier to the port construction.
