Kochi: Kerala High Court on Friday raised doubts over the sexual assault complaint against Congress MLA Eldhose Kunnappillil.

While considering a petition seeking cancellation of bail granted to the Perumbavoor MLA, the HC pointed out the absence of enough evidence to prove the attempt to murder charges against the accused.

Following this, the court dismissed the petitions filed by the state government and the complainant.

According to the complainant, Eldhose sexually assaulted her on July 2022. However, she also revealed that she had consensual sex with Congress MLA at a resort in August. The court raised doubts over these contradictory remarks.

The government argued in court that Eldhose must be taken into custody for a detailed interrogation. However, the court dismissed both of these petitions.
