Kerala HC bribery allegations: Police record advocate’s statement

Kochi: Kerala Police on Wednesday recorded the statement of advocate Saiby Jose Kidangoor in connection with allegations that he accepted large sums of money from various clients on the pretext of paying bribes to High Court judges for favourable verdicts.

Saiby denied the allegations and reiterated that he only accepted his fees.

The statement was recorded by a team of officials headed by city police commissioner K Sethuraman. The process lasted three hours. The report will be handed over to the DGP soon.

A preliminary investigation report prepared by the Kerala High Court Vigilance Registrar reportedly found prima facie evidence in the case. The vigilance registrar noted that the Bar Council can recommend disciplinary action against him.

Meanwhile, the officials have already recorded the statements of others in connection with the case including the filmmaker, who is alleged to have paid Rs 25 lakh to Saiby.
