Alappuzha: Kerala government issued an order fixing the retirement age of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) at 62 years.

Though the ASHA scheme was launched in 2007, the retirement age of the workers was not decided then.

The ASHA workers will be dismissed if the regular incentive and the incentive sans honorarium falls below Rs 500 consecutively for three months. The action will be taken only after providing a chance to improve the service within three months.

Earlier the action had been taken if the incentive is less than Rs 250.
