New Delhi: Kerala government demanded the Centre to launch Vande Bharat train services from the state. It has been one of the demands raised by Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal at the conference of finance ministers summoned by Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in view of the next budget.
Balagopal requested to launch more train services under Vande Bharat in Kerala, citing the surging number of passengers who depend on railways for travel. He also raised the demand for financial aid for projects such as the Kochi Metro and Nemom coach terminal.
The Centre should consider the SilverLine project and grant approval for it, said Balagopal at the ministerial conference. He urged the union government to grant special financial assistance to the states on account of the global economic crisis that followed the pandemic. He also reminded the necessity to increase the slab for availing loans and granting more financial powers to the state.
