Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government arranged a send-off for the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, S Manikumar, who is retiring from service on April 23.

The event took place at a hotel in Kovalam on Wednesday evening and was attended by the chief minister, ministers, chief secretary, advocate general, and other senior officials.

The Full Court organised a separate farewell recently. Usually, this is the only send-off given to the Chief Justice. It is learnt that this the first time that a Chief Justice has been given an official farewell by the government.

The opposition had slammed the Lok Ayukta and Upa Lok Ayukta for attending the Iftar party of the chief minister a few days ago.
