Thiruvananthapuram: The third edition of the 'Loka Kerala Sabha', the annual convention of the Non-residents Keralites, will kickstart in Thiruvananthapuram from Thursday.
The 351-member Sabha will include members of the legislature, members of parliament from Kerala, government-nominated expatriate Malayalees and former expatriate representatives. Keralites who have excelled in various fields abroad are also included as special invitees.
Governor Arif Mohammad Khan will inaugurate the public meeting and cultural program to be held in Nishagandhi Auditorium at 5 pm. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will preside over the function. Various meetings will be conducted in the Assembly building on June 17 and 18.
There will be delegates from 65 countries and 21 states in the country. Meanwhile, women make up 20 per cent of the total representatives at the event.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Sabha on June 17 at 10 am. Opposition leader VD Satheesan, Union Minister V Muraleedharan and others will deliver speeches. On June 17 and 18, there will be an open forum to discuss matters that connect NRIs with the state.
