Kerala Floods: M V Shreyams Kumar donates a month’s salary to CMDRF
Thiruvananthapuram: Mathrubhumi Joint Managing Director MV Shreyams Kumar donated a month’s salary amounting to Rs 20 lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.
Shreyams Kumar will also donate his five years’ MLA pension to the distress relief fund and will build houses worth Rs 5 lakhs each for 5 persons.
He has already donated his accumulated pension eligible as Ex-MLA, Rs 3.75 lakhs, to CMDRF.
Mathrubhumi Managing Director MP Veerendra Kumar M P and Managing Editor PV Chandran together handed over the money to the Chief Minister.
A former MLA, Shreyams Kumar is the State President of Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD). He was elected MLA from Kalpetta constituency in 2006 and 2011 elections.
He is the present Chairman of Kerala Regional Committee of the Indian Newspaper Society, President of Kerala Television Federation, Vice-President of News Broadcasters' Association and the Executive Committee Member of the International Advertising Association.
Mathrubhumi has contributed Rs 5 cr to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). The fund was collected from readers and well-wishers through Mathrubhumi’s flood relief initiative ‘Keralathinoru Kaithangu’ and includes donations by the company and its employees.
The relief and rehabilitation work carried out through the flood relief initiative ‘Keralathinoru Kaithangu’ by Mathrubhumi continues. The service of more than 500 employees have been spared for this purpose. Materials for basic needs and medicines worth crores have been distributed in the flood-affected areas. Many medical camps have also been organized.
