Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has declared a financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs for the people who lost houses completely or partially in the landslides. The district collectors were instructed to hand over the money to the people immediately.

However, emergency financial aid will not be provided to the dependents of the victims of rain havoc or for those who lost houses and livelihood in the calamity.

Rs 10,000 was given for those who reached the relief camps during the previous floods. However, the government claimed that no similar situation exists this time as the people were relocated to the camps soon by giving timely warnings.

The various departments will collect the data of losses and this will be analysed in the next cabinet meeting. The amount to be distributed to the people was already handed over to the collectors. If more money is required, it will be allotted from the disaster relief fund.
