Water level in Idukki dam coming down

Painavu: The water level in Idukki dam has come down to 2401.80 feet. With the water level dropping, the three shutters presently opened were lowered to 1.9 metres.

Also the quantity of water being released from the dam has been reduced. 600 cumecs water is currently being released through the three shutters. 700 cumecs water was being released the other day.

The water level receded as the rainfall in the catchment area declined. The amount of released water was reduced at 4 am. 2, 3, and 4 shutters are open presently. First and fifth shutters were closed already.

Water level in Mullaperiyar dam also was reduced to 140 feet as the rain in the catchment area weakened. The water from Mullaperiyar dam is released through 13 spillway shutters.

Meanwhile, shutters of Pampa and Moozhiyar dams were raised to 15 cm. It is reported that 8 officials are trapped in Sholayar dam.
