Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Finance Department has directed to give a monthly honorarium of Rs 1 lakh to KV Thomas, who has been appointed as the special representative of the state government in New Delhi. The cabinet will take a final decision.
Typically, when a person is appointed to another post, their salary is reduced by the pension amount they receive. However, in this case, the rule does not apply because the amount granted to KV Thomas is in the form of an honorarium. Therefore, he can continue to receive the MP pension in addition to the honorarium.
KV Thomas was appointed as the special representative of the LDF- led government in New Delhi after he was sacked by Congress following his alleged anti-party activities.
During the term of the first Pinarayi government, the special representative of the state in Delhi, A Sambath, had cabinet rank. Sambath received a salary of Rs 92,423.
