Kerala fighting coronavirus on war footing; 276 doctors to be appointed
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has decided to fight coronavirus on a war footing. 276 new doctors will be appointed through Public Service Commission (PSC) urgently. They have been selected from PSC rank list and given advice memo. Counselling will be held through video conference and appoints will be made in a day.
Paramedical staff will also be appointed urgently, informed Health Minister K. K. Shailaja.
With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the health department is taking precautions on a war footing. Apart from the coronavirus positive cases, if anyone is showing symptoms, they can only be treated in isolation rooms. In view of this, the department has prepared Plan A, Plan B and Plan C strategy. Around 6,000 beds have been prepared to treat patients. Apart from this, corona care centres have been arranged which will help to accommodate 21,866 people at a time.
According to each plan, the number of medical professionals like doctors, nurses and other workers, medicines and safety equipment have to be arranged. Doctors and other staff are being appointed as part of this preparation, she added.
