Kodungallur: The Kerala Tourism Department has decided to launch new programmes to expand the Muziris Heritage project to the rural regions on the banks of the backwaters in central Kerala.

With the beginning of vacation after the third wave of Covid 19, the services of tourist boats will roll out from Kottapuram to Ernakulam, informed PM Noushad, MD of Muziris Heritage project.

The boat service will connect Mattancherry, Ernakulam Marine Drive, Bolgatty, and Fort Kochi along with the existing Muziris sites. The tourist package will include food and other facilities in air-conditioned boats.

Meanwhile, the decline in Covid-19 cases in Kerala had revived the tourism industry, especially Muziris. A considerable flow of travellers is being marked at Azhikode Munakkal beach and the related museums under Muziris Heritage Circuit. Currently, booking services are active for the heritage walk of school students and the popular hop-on hop-off boat trips.
