Thiruvananthapuram: There is no shortage of seats for plus one admission in any of the districts in the state, said V Sivankutty, Minister for Education.

By evaluating the number of plus one admissions for a period from 2015 to 2020, the government has arrived at a conclusion that without a marginal hike in seats plus-one admission processes can be completed smoothly.

After admission procedures, seats were seen lying vacant throughout these years. A 20 percent hike in marginal seats may lead to an increase of around 61,230 seats.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, schools remained closed during the academic year 2020-21. However, with the consent of parents, students were allowed to come to schools from January 2021 for the continuation of online classes and revision, the Minister noted.
