Kerala eases COVID restrictions, strict curbs in places with WIPR above 8
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has eased the restrictions over COVID-19. As per the revised guidelines, only those local bodies with Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) above 8 will be placed under strict restrictions including lockdown. With this, more places will be removed from the list of containment zones.
The decision was taken in the COVID review meeting summoned by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The government has been making a decision on the restrictions after considering the WIPR in each place.
Earlier, strict restrictions were placed in places where 7 people test COVID positive. But now, the government has decided to impose restrictions in those areas where 8 COVID cases are reported.
Recently, the government has lifted night curfew and Sunday lockdown in a major move to ease the COVID curbs.
According to reports, the government is likely to announce more relaxations in the restrictions next week.
