New Delhi: In the latest move on Mullaperiyar dispute, Tamil Nadu has approached the Supreme Court of India seeking permission for cutting the trees in the vicinity of the Mullaperiyar baby dam.

Tamil Nadu has pleaded with the SC to direct the Kerala government to issue an order in effect to their demand.

The neighbours have also asked SC to direct Kerala government to immediately do the maintenance works of the Vallakadavu- Mullaperiyar road. TN has also requested to install a rain gauge near the dam.

Earlier, Kerala had issued an order allowing Tamil Nadu to cut the trees. However, it was soon withdrawn. The government claimed that the order was not issued with the permission of the Cabinet and hence it is not valid. It also suspended the officer who signed the order.
